I needed to submit a graphics intensive document to some reviewers, but there were problems with the quality of the direct exporting of the file from PowerPoint (Word wouldn't do what I needed) to PDF. (The main problems dealt with the background areas marked for transparency over a gradient background. In PowerPoint, everything looked fine, but the exported file filled in the transparent areas with solid white--not the desired effect.) As a workaround, I exported to XPS format, then had XPS viewer print the document to a PDF file. Graphics worked, but at an outrageous file size. Enter XPS-to-PDF. This little application saved the day, and it provided several compression algorithms to boot. (Turns out plain old JPEG gave me the smallest file size with acceptable output quality.) And, I was using just the 1-day trial. Tried a number of free apps, each disappointed in either output quality (dropped pages replaced with duplicates of preceding page) or file size. Kudos, RootRise!
